Originally called Treasure
Coast Fencing Academy,
Treasure Coast Fencing Club
was founded in 2008 by Coach
Ken Moran. Coach Ken taught
fencing at various places around
the county until securing our
present location at Crowne
Plaza and fulfilling his dream of
a permanent home for fencing
on Florida's Treasure Coast.
Sadly, Coach Ken passed away in
January of 2015. Coach’s wife, Robin, and
daughter, Megan, wanted the club to
continue—after all, it had been his dream.
Aided by Jeff Barbeau, George Kraus and
others parents and club members,
George Love lead the charge and the
club officially opened its doors again in
August.
All the hard work to carry on
Coach Ken's legacy has paid off and
the club is thriving! We have hosted
workshops, tournaments, special
events such as Black Light fencing,
participated in International Flash
Mob Fencing Day and offered many
activities to interested fencers.
TCFC  fencers have participated in
regional and national tournaments
and Junior Olympics. Some members
have moved on to college and
continue to fence at UF, UCF, FIU,
FSU and UM, to name a few.
Coach Ken was known for his friendly,
outgoing nature that helped him share the
young and old. Though his weapon in
college(SUNY-New Paltz, New York) was
saber, he focused on teaching foil.
